7th AOFC Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Virtual
The Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation held its first ever virtual General Assembly Meeting on Sunday the 29th of November 2020. This was the 7th General Assembly during which the bi-annual elections were held, revision of the statutes and annual reports were approved, and regional development plans were proposed.
The 7th AOFC AGM was postponed from March 2020, when Thailand had to cancel hosting the Men’s WFCQ due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic. The event hosted in Bangkok was virtually attended by 12 of 15 member federations and associations. The guest of honor was Mr. Tomas Eriksson and Mr. John Liljelund from IFF who also oversaw the meeting from Europe.
The main item on the agenda was the revision of statute and the voting of the Central Board. For amending the statute to modify term times from 2020-2022 (2 year) to 2020-2024 (4 year term), nine (9) member federations voted for and 3 against.
Furthermore, the result of the Central Board also went underway, with a record number of nominations contesting for Vice President position. The result of the elections saw Dato Seri’ Chaiyapak Siriwat (THA) in his third term as AOFC President, Stephen King (AUS) as Senior Vice President, Mr Atul Gupta (IND), Adm. Graivut Vattanatham (THA), Mr. Ching Sy Jeng (SIN/CHN) and Mr. Soichi Kato (JPN) as Vice Presidents. The secretariat team includes Mr. Kenneth Ho (SIN) as newly appointed Secretary general, and Miss. Pen Siri (THA) and Mr. Yuan Yong (CHN) as deputies. Mr. Ramezanali Davalo (IRN) remains as the AOFC West Envoy and Mr. Kim Se Wong (KOR) as treasurer. Updates were also made to representations of member countries and working committees.
The new term times will be from 2020 to 2024, and the next General Assembly will take place in Bangkok during the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in May 2021.
Further discussion was held on the future competitions of floorball in the region, mainly the upcoming continental level multi-sport competition of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games that is planned to be run from 22-29 May 2021 in Bangkok, with 8 competing nations for both Men’s and Women’s. Further discussion was also on the direction of floorball development in the region, include plans to develop floorball in the region with proposals of changing competition formats, encouraging youth competitions by Singapore Floorball Association, as well as media initiatives proposed by IFF and Pakistan Floorball to promote floorball in the region.
